Arief Sumantri: out of 2146 Hafidz, 50 become FKIK students

UIN News Online – 50 santris from various pesantren (Islamic boarding school) who memorized the Qur'an (Hafidz), pass the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) selection test. The 50 students have divided into four courses in FKIK; Public Health, Pharmacy, Medical Education and Nursing Science.

It was explained by the dean of FKIK, Prof Dr. Arief Sumantri, M.Kes to UIN News Online, Thursday (8/4). He explained that the selection procedure for picking the candidates is quite strict. “Out of 2146 Hafidz, only 50 were chosen as FKIK students. The selection process is held in their respective regions,” He said. He also added that the faculty needs to be involved in the empowerment of Santris (Students from Pondok Pesantren) to stand equally with the regular students. “Santris can stand equally with the regular students if they are empowered. They have a good memory, so we need to appreciate them more,” added Arief. (Edy A Effendi/ika p/umar)
