Ciputat, UIN NEWS Online – Student Activity Unit (UKM) Foreign Languages Association (FLAT) UIN Jakarta along with American Corner again held “Scrabble Workshop”. This activity was in the Ramadan Road Show framework which introduces scrabble games to children in Musholla Griya Raya Legoso, Ciputat, South Tangerang, Friday (16/6/17).
Ulfah Handayani, Secretary of American Corner and Technical Services and Collaboration Center of the Library, said that such activities were the first time, especially in the month of Ramadhan. In addition of encouraging language skills, the games activity held was also useful to minimize the adjacency of children with gadgets.
“Through this activity it is expected that children able to choose a more positive game. Do not let the kids engage with gadgets and with their own world, “she said.
It is known that scrabble is a board game which played by composing word comprises two or four people who collect points based on the word value formed from letters on a plaid board game (15 columns and 15 rows). The target of this activity was children from 5 years old to high school with the aim that this composing word game children can be a smart player and smart socializer to the environment.
Separately, Alif Waisal, Chairman of FLAT, appreciated the activities. According to him, this activity was first done by FLAT. Unlike the previous scrabble workshop conducted in the campus environment and students as participants, this time the workshop targeting children of early age. “Hopefully in the next year scrabble ramadhan work shop activity can continue,” he said.
